Water Walk for Life (UPDATED 1/7/17)
Dates: Sat. March 4th thru Sat. March 11th, 2017 (8 days)
Join this march beginning 3/4/17— for a few hours or a few days… in solidarity with Standing Rock, with prayers for the water at risk from pipelines slated for this region (Pilgrim & Spectra AIM).
Route: Beginning in Carteret, NJ with Water Ceremony by Seneca & Onondaga Nations, the walk continues northward through NJ, to the Ramapo-Lenape of Split Rock-Sweetwater Prayer Camp (Mahwah, NJ) for a Tobacco Ceremony. Walk proceeds through Rockland County, to Indian Point Nuclear Plant for vigil observing Fukushima Nuclear Disaster 6th Anniversary, followed by Water Ceremony at Peekskill Landing Park. Walk concludes with potluck & speakers at local church. (Exact route details in development/TBA. Potluck & speakers at evening stops).
This walk is being led by Jun-San, an international activist and founder of the Grafton Peace Pagoda of the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist order.
